If you want to know if a particular font allows embedding, you can download Microsoft's free Font Properties Extension. Did you find this post useful? Perhaps you can use another computer like your friend's or from an internet cafe with an earlier version of PowerPoint ? That protects it against further changes, so you won't be able to edit the file.
